About KSMBDA Bristol
The Teachers
Peter and Christine run the club; both are BAB certfied coaches, both are
trained first aiders and hold professional indemnity insurance.
We have been training since 1998 and have enjoyed aikido and the KSMBDA organisation
in particular. So much so that when the founding teacher of KSMBDA Bristol
left we agreed to take on the running of the club.
The Club
We train at the Esporta Sports Centre in Bristol which is behind the Parkway
Railway station. Go to the maps page and click
the Bristol link to see a map of where the dojo is.
Classes are on Wednesday 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
Beginners are welcome as is anyone who just wants to watch, but due to the
nature of ki aikido it is best to get on the mat and have a go to get the
feeling of what we do.
KSMBDA
Founded in 1982 by Wasyl Kolesnikov the KSMBDA or Kolesnikov School of Mind
and Body with Dynamic Aikido aims to study mind and body coordination through
the study of energy both static and in motion. The fighting roots of Aikido
provide a useful framework for this study, but through our Ki Society connections
we also study the use of energy for healing purposes using the techniques
of Kiatsu pioneered by Senesi Tohei.
